His practice concentrates on representing businesses and professionals in civil and complex commercial litigation. He has tried numerous cases involving professionals and businesses in disputes ranging from contract disputes to allegations of professional malpractice. He also specializes in representing architects, engineers, and contractors in legal disputes, typically involving allegations of design or construction defects.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Thompson graduated Cum Laude from the Honors College at Texas Tech University, with a concentration on philosophy and history. He worked as a newspaper reporter for the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Prior to founding Thompson, Jaglal & Sutton, P.A., Mr. Thompson worked for seven years at Bull and Associates, P.A., one of the pre-eminent construction-law firms in Central Florida. He also represented doctors, hospitals, and assisted living facilities in medical negligence cases. He has represented apartment complexes, condominiums, and supermarkets in premises-liability cases, as well as handling administrative licensure proceedings for specialized business owners.
Mr. Thompson is a member of the Florida Bar, and is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Florida. He has also served two terms on the Military Affairs Committee of the Florida Bar. In 2009, he was named a “Rising Star” in business litigation by Florida Super Lawyers.
